About Great Britain Shillings
The Islands of Great Britain have been known to humankind for nearly a million years, first settled by prehistoric explorers as they branched out from their earlier abodes. Over the millennia, countless cultures and kingdoms have risen and fallen. The United Kingdom as we know it today is built on this rich history.
The lands themselves are ancient and formed along with the rest of the European continent. Up until about 6,500 years ago, Great Britain was connected to the mainland by a land bridge that became submerged as the last major glaciers receded and global sea levels rose. Cultural legends persist even now about the lost lands.
